FoM Optimization in Class-C Oscillators

In this paper, a new approach to optimize phase noise and figure of merit (FoM) in class-C oscillators is presented. This recruits DC voltage the common source node switchingpair transistors as an indicator achieve best performance oscillator. The proposed has advantages not introducing any loading effect output node, ndependency from PVT changes. method simple applicable oscillator with topology, some modifications it would be applied other topologies like class-B. idea verified using theoretical analysis, circuit simulations on 0.18um CMOS technology at 2GHz oscillation frequency. Moreover, discrete prototype fabricated 15MHz measurement results are provided which further validate feasibility approach.
